Living in the Moment?

I am by nature future oriented. I plan and scheme and spend a fair amount of time and energy into "anticipating" trends and cause and affect relationships in order to convince myself I have a degree of certainty around getting what I want or understanding what might/could/should happen? I have recently discovered this way of living reflects a "mental trap" which takes me away from living the current moment to it's full potential. This "anticipatory" forward thinking is a habit that I would like to break. Right now I am sitting at my computer typing this blog, enjoying the creative expression, the sharing and a warm cup of coffee. I believe this is a "first thing first" activity so I am comfortable in my choice of how I am spending my time although in the back of my mind I am lamenting my procrastination related to another activity that is left undone that should have been completed last night. As I compose and type this blog I am also working through my day in my head. I have a presentation at 8:30 a.m. to make, a supplier meeting at 11:00 a.m. and a number of critical tasks to complete and my mind is currently reviewing the details and analyzing the outcomes. This activity is largely counterproductive and is taking away from my focus (and enjoyment) of the moment. I have already set the day up, completed the pre-work-I am prepared-the meetings are a few hours away-no need to run through the details? I want to "free up" my awareness to be more open and receptive to the "in the moment" stimulus verses pre-occuppied with the future? An interesting battle with the potential for a more rewarding life as an outcome? Let's see what happens?

Help

“Sit in simple relationship to the Earth, like a poet enraptured in a forest. Be rooted where you are now…look through the “eyes” in your feet”
I am struggling with the same, though it has been a lot easier lately because of a wonderful healer/teacher/astrologer I’ve recently been in touch with (who also brought my attention to the above quote). It really makes a difference to have someone read you specifically, and understand where your imbalances are. There are invisible forces of your individual nature that can get in your way if you don’t fully understand them and the natural cycles we go through…. it all makes so much sense now.
Good luck to you….if you ever want to chat, I’m around!
Thank you very much for the quote. Very relevant and “grounding” for sure. I appreciate you taking the time to share it with me…
The concept of the underlying “imbalances” is an interesting one to ponder. As my journey progresses I am beginning to understand something of these invisible forces than impact me and also of the cycles that we are going through both individually and as a tribe. Interesting times for sure…..
I am glad you have found someone who is opening doors for you…does this person have a website that you could share with me?
