The Chess Like Game of Clutter Management

Two weeks ago a decision was made to "reclaim" my son's abandoned bedroom and turn it back into a room that can actually be slept in. The last time it was used as such was last March when friends and their children arrived for a short visit to attend a wedding. Since then it has become mainly a storage spot for art supplies (lots of canvasses) and assorted file boxes containing the remnants of my corporate life, 2 old TV sets and other assorted misc "stuff" that had no place permanent for storage...some of it relevant-some of it surplus and some of it a rather large "?" mark?
Today I spent about 5 hours moving things about-I have about 12 boxes of stuff to recycle that is going to require other family member input?
I have some measurable success. One closet with "relevant, current, useful things in it and an area that has been cleared that would be suitable for storing relevant items. The process continues...move and countermove...
